Not Enough Time

I love to sit and read all the blogs that I follow but lately there just hasn't been enough time.  We are on the move again so my day has consisted of dragging out the packing boxes and tissue paper and starting to pack up all of  my prized possessions, which are now considerably more than when we arrived here.  Much to my husband disgust I discovered Homesense!  I should have known not to paint the bedrooms I'm almost complete with the makeovers and now there is no point in adding the final touches so I'm afraid there will be no pics to post.

The decision to move means I now have a garage full of furniture ready to be painted but do not have the time to do it.  I am trying to convince my other half that we should ship it with us but he wants me to sell it.  Maybe if I can get most of the packing done this week I can concentrate on painting.

The one positive to moving is I can reinvent yet another house, the picture below is the look I would love in the new house but my other half is taking some convincing let me know what you think.  I love the white with the dark woods I think it takes shabby chic to a whole new level.

Where is the Sun

I know when we moved to Canada the climate change was going to be an issue as we have never seen winters like they have here but come on I did expect to see some sunshine.  We are still having to run our furnace in the middle of June.  I think mother nature is playing with us as last weekend we had a beautiful summers day and then all this week has been constant rain.  On a brighter note when we did see the sun it was great day for garage sales, the girls and I where out early and picked up a few bargains.  We headed down south and found an antiques flea market and wouldn't you know it they were closing up shop so most of the stalls where empty. The girls picked up some old coins for their Granddad which he collects, it will be a nice surprise for him when he gets them in the mail.

I've been practicing

Today was a busy day running around with my other half to different stores as he finally had a day off after working 10 days straight.  We did not accomplish very much although we did manage to pick up a desk for Taylor which will undergo a complete makeover before it takes up residence in her room.  Still on the hunt for fabric for her curtains or ready made drapes.

I have been working on a mood board for Cailin's room, I know it looks very white but she can't make up her mind what colour she wants so if I keep it neutral I can change the sheets and throw pillows and she will have a completely different look.

I have been practicing with different methods for creating the mood boards this one was made using publisher and was a lot easier to import.

Cailin's room has been painted in Cloud White I know pretty boring but we are in a rental property and I have to keep with the safe colours.  She has white drapes as shown in the mood board and along one wall we have two ikea expedit bookcases and a desk that runs the whole length of the wall.  Due to it being a small space I have used the white drum stool as a night table and it also doubles as extra seating when her friends come over.  The ikea bookcases are excellent as they provide lots of storage.  I am keeping her duvet cover and bed skirt white and at the moment she is interchanging between pale green and lilac sheets so every week her room looks different.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog

Mood Board

Well this has taken me the best part of yesterday and today to put together a mood board for Taylor's bedroom, I am normally pretty good with computers but this was a challenge.
Tays Mood Board

If there is anyone out there that knows of an easier way to get a word document into a blog please leave me a comment and let me know.

Now to explain the mood board, I have painted the room in Benjamin Moore Cloud White with a feature wall behind the bed being Canadian Sky by ICI. The bedding is very similar to the one pictured and I am on the hunt for the fabric for the drapes. The desk is shabby chic in antique white which will match with the headboard.

Almost forgot to mention the wall decal which will be put on the feature wall behind the bed just to give the room a little more interest.

Once the room is complete I will post some pictures and you can let me know what you think.

Inspiration

I can't believe it is Friday already where has the week gone. I have been busy with painting my daughters rooms and thought I would share with you some of the bedroom designs that have inspired us. Taylor's room will be a mix of shabby chic and her favourite colours are blue and brown so we are trying to incorporate them into the design.

I love the fact that they have used a parsons desk as a side table, for me this idea fits perfectly for Taylor's small room it means I don't have to worry about a nightstand.
